The coating is based on a simple process. A substrate like aluminum is being cleaned and activated – and silicon oxide is applied and bonded to the metal. The result is a strong and sturdy corrosion resistant silica layer which enables new application areas for aluminum. Superior coating properties The fused quartz coating provides an excellent anti-corrosive protection of the metal to where it is coated. Equally, the chemical inertness of the thin-film also works as a barrier to prevent undesirable reactions between agent and metal/application. Add to that a polishing effect of the surface with filling of micro‐cracks, micro‐pores and reduced surface roughness.
